After a wide range of exploration, I decided on a sling style chair supported by 4 sculptural arms that converge into a central base.

To validate and fine tune the ergonomics of the sling seat, I went through 4 rounds of increasing fidelity prototypes, testing with people of all body types.

I mapped each structural joint and seam out before starting production.

The base is made of solid walnut hardwood joined with floating tenon joinery. It is hand carved to achieve the sculptural curves. The carving would be done via CNC in a production setting.

The seat is a faux sheepskin with a structural backing fabric. The pattern is cut and darts are sewn in to create the cupped seat shape, and the fur hides the seam lines. The seat is removable and secures via 4 custom steel brackets.
Enclave is an elegant statement lounge chair with a sculpted wooden base and suspended faux fur seat. Its silhouette is striking, unique, and eye-catching, yet the form is timeless and fits within modern trends as well.
The wooden base is visually weighted and solid, grounding the form and giving structure, with sweeping curves that gently guide the eye around it, while the fur seat contrasts with the base, displaying how it would hold one’s body perfectly, inviting oneself to experience the comfort of its embrace.
